Special Staff feature: Roy Anderson

Roy has been working at Macandrew Bay School as our caretaker since 2018.

He lives up the little lane near school, just past the bowling club. We love his stories, Dad jokes and laid back approach to life. Roy loves our school pool and it is thanks to him that it runs so efficiently. He loves nothing better than a late evening dip after everyone goes home. His children all went to Macandrew Bay School, Alexis, Philip, Marcus and Julia and believe it or not so did Roy back in 1968!

Roy is always willing to help our kura and anyone in need. Nothing is a problem or a bother to Roy, although he does need the occasional reminder! He's such a big help to our staff, tamariki and our whole school community. Roy can often be found on the ride on lawnmower living his best life. Thanks Roy!

Our roving reporter on the ground, Mitch McMillan caught up with Roy in the staffroom for a cuppa and a chinwag as well as asking him some hard hitting patai.
