Kārearea Class go to the Portobello Aquarium

We went to Batham Laboratory to look at some research. We went down to the wharf to gather some sea sponges and plankton on the hot plates and collect some sea water. After that we returned to the laboratory and we used droppers to put the sea water into petrie dishes and looked at these under the microscope. We saw plankton, bryozoans and krill.

Thanks to Jess and Hannah who helped us learn new things about marine biology. Thanks to our kind parents/whānau for providing transport and making this trip possible.
